Client/Job: Marston’s ‘Sports Training’ Internal Video
Producer: Owain Lewis
Director: Ben Morgan
What made the work new or unique?
The client wanted good energy in the video, almost referancing typical Saturday Morning sports shows. The shoot was challenging as we had very limited time to capture a series of talking head interviews which would be captured across multi locations (roughly 8 different locations spread across the Midlands) in LIVE/OPEN pubs/taverns, indoors and outdoor throughout winter!

Where was the location/studio?
Multi Locations, live (open to public) pub/tavern environments across Midlands (Birmingham – Wolverhampton)
Was it fun and what did you learn?
Being on set is always fun, but this was particularly challenging. The client (Marston’s) wanted to capture ‘real staff/managers’ with great personalities and successful pubs. There’s a lot involved in capturing that, and with no permission to close the pubs to create controlled environments for the audio capture we had to make a difficult situation work in our favour. We kept it light and as casual as possible to capture as ‘real’ an interview as possible with the managers and staff we filmed. They were facing a pub full of locals on many occasions which made it quite intimidating for them, but it’s all about making them feel comfortable on camera first, and pulling the information we want for the edit out of them as organically as possible. I believe we succeeded in doing exactly that and the client was very happy with the results.
